to conserve a mosaic and a Nuraghe arch in Sardinia. In the process, they unearthed a new mosaic. For the arch, they needed to make mortar to repair and strengthen it. The conservator who was heading the group had them crush/grind Roman bricks to incorporate into the mortar. She said she felt so awful crushing bricks that were estimated to be 300BC, but the conservator said that is the true restoration.
