have the gear stick on the steering wheel. It takes very little for an excited big dog (say after seeing another dog come by) to hit it and if the truck has any downward slant when parked, it will roll forward. I had this happen years ago in my Dad's old truck. I am only lucky nothing was hit--it rolled down a hundred feet or so to level ground and stopped.

Yes, it CAN/DOES happen. Set your parking brake!
