We know going in we are going to lose them one day... [View all]
But damn if Friday the 13th didn't get us!
Tuesday, our beloved seemed out of sorts and wouldn't eat. Trip to the vet for an x-ray showed fluid in the stomach and he said she needed an ultrasound to rule out something. I am not all clear on what was going on. Heart was good, blood work was good. The hospital couldn't do anything until Wednesday. Tuesday night she drank water, went to the bathroom, and seemed a little better.
At the hospital Wednesday, they found a tear in the intestine. Did surgery and she was doing well. Thursday she continued to recover and I went to see her and she wagged and tried to come home with me. Friday morning, doctor called and said I could come by and walk her, she was doing well, and might be able to go home later that day. BUT when I got there, they made me wait in the lobby. When the doc came out to talk to me, in the course of an hour, she had taken a turn for the worse. Bacteria or something blah blah blah. They couldn't save her.
She was older but strong and I had hoped we could save her for a few more months. My son was coming home for Christmas just two days later and we lost our other dog earlier this year. It just sucks.
Anyway, I've been looking at the shelter pages but I won't do anything until the first of the year. Gotta love em while you have em!
