who remembered when the Allies drove through Palermo and were throwing out candy to the children.

Many years later, after my teacher had moved to Lawrence, KS, he sat down at soda fountain and decided to order a root beer which he had never heard of. As soon as he tasted it, the memories of that time in Palermo flooded back triggered by probably a root beer candy.
