been Buchenwald but I can't be sure. Anyway, he told me this about 15 years ago. He was an officer whose commander ordered him to take his unit into town and bring out every able bodied person to help take care of those alive and bury the dad and to use force if necessary. One upscale woman haughtily refused and he pulled out his pistol and said he would shoot her if she did not come. She went. The local residents were required to see the results of what their countrymen had done.
