Evelyn Nesbit in the Milos Forman adaptation of "Ragtime." She becomes a symbol of that period, especially in the marketing of that film, but it's peculiar because she's not developed in the movie, leaving viewers to wonder why the director thinks this ethereal character is central to some metaphor for the time. (Norman Mailer portrayed Stanford White).

It's a beautiful film. It was however a long movie. I've always suspected there were more scenes involving Nesbit that were either cut to bring down the length of the film, or that scenes in the original final draft of the screenplay were never shot. I know there was a scene involving Nesbit and the actor Brad Dourif that didn't make the finished film.
