2. How times have changed.....

These days, men will run with the elite women in a marathon, knowing that it will give them a good finish time. The current record is 2:09:56, held by a Kenyan women in the last Chicago Marathon. That's a phenomenal time for anyone. We're talking sub-5 minute mile pace! The men's current record, 2:00:35 (another Kenyan,) is not all that much faster.

Joan Benoit's winning time in the first ever women's Olympic competition was 2:24:52 in 1984. We've come a long way, ladies!!
