For all his faults he was a brilliant man and tells the story as it unfolded. I have The Grand Alliance and Their Finest Hour right next to me here on the nightstand for yet another reading. I find his struggles comforting - if ever a man had the weight of the world on his shoulders, and persevered, it were he. I’d love to be able to read what he would have had to say about TFG!
