collections, but the reason that disturbs me is the need for self-defence. I hope that's not as widespread as it sounds. Here, we have inter-gang violence, but most people don't have an awareness of personal safety.
It isn't so much the need, as it is the preparedness for. A fire extinguisher is a good analogy. Like your country, almost all of our murders are intergang violence in small pockets of some cities. Of course, that doesn't have anything to with other violent crimes like rape, armed robbery etc. The police exist to enforce the law and maintain general safety, not protect you or me, unless you happen to be in their custody. Our federal courts, including the Supreme Court, ruled that. Even if it were their job, it would be an impossible task. They know that.
