Moms Demand Action, led by former Monsanto PR exec Shannon Watts, and Everytown for Gun Safety sponsor a program called Be Smart for Kids. http://besmartforkids.org

When it launched on Mother's Day in 2015 they promised to distribute a free gun lock for everyone who took the quiz that can be found on their site. It seemed a noble attempt at reducing accidental children's death and injuries.

Earlier this year they scrubbed all mention of free gun locks from their site without notice or explanation. In over two years not a single lock was ever distributed despite Bloomberg making a personal donation of 50 million dollars.

There is however a group which does distribute free gun locks. http://www.projectchildsafe.org Sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation project childsafe has distributed over 37 million free locks since 1999.

At least there is one organization out there taking action to attempt to reduce gun accidents involving children.
