6. Firearm purchases are covered by state and federal laws.

For the most part and AFAIK, you have to be at least 18 to buy a firearm. In some jurisdictions there are limits on handguns to those 21 and over. Ms. Marshall was challenging the law disallowing purchases for those over 18 but under 21. She was under 21 at the time the court challenge was raised but turned 21 while waiting for the case to be decided. The court decided she no longer had an issue since she was no longer not permitted to make the purchase. The court's decision was that the case is now moot.
