Christian Music Radio and Patty Duke [View all]
My wife and I listen to this christian music radio station in mid-michigan. The music is pretty good and as they like to promote it generally has a positive message in the music. So all that was fine until last year.
Leading into the 2020 election the news stories they ran at the top and bottom of each hour were ripped straight from the headlines. The FoxNews headlines. We suspect that the GOP and or one of their minions made a sizable donation to the station (Smile FM). After all they rely on donations and don't pay taxes since they have a religious affiliation.
Then last night I'm channel surfing and there is a very frail Patty Duke in some movie. It was on TCT a "christian" tv channel. A little movie from 2018 called Power of the Air. I didn't watch much of it but I got curious later and found this description on IMDb:
Good Movie with Bad Theology

I saw this recently on YouTube for free. Overall, it was a good movie in the sense of acting, filmography, and script. My only contention is that it promotes the idea that Christians need to 'Beat the world at its own game'. Basically, it says that rather than separating from the world, that Christians should try to beat the world at its own game by making movies, using radio, etc. This is the idea of Kingdom Now Theology in which we are to reform and Christianize the world, which is unbiblical.

Also worth noting that Patty Duke died in 2016. So this was her last acting job and apparently released a few years after she died. The more interesting note for the purpose of this post though is the acknowledgment christian media is willing to make a deal with the devil. As long as it gets their message out.
Bottomline is that these religious outlets have become another outlet for right wing propaganda and at the very least need to be taxed and regulated.
