If you can afford to wait to collect SS until you are 70 you might get a lot more per month. I worked until 70 and I'm getting about $500 more than I would have if I had retired at 66. The last two years of work were brutal though. Of course if you need it now you should certainly go ahead and apply.

I also wonder how I ever had time to work, I stay so busy not doing anything in particular. I haven't regretted retiring for one moment.
