this was a late and imperfect realization in my own life, learning (not there yet) to love myself as I was willing to love others, because I didn't see myself as worthy of the same love.

But as you rightly pointed out, the OP author's way was right for her, and what struck me, while reading your comment, was that there are different kinds of introspection, some better than others, and for some, introspection can be closer to ruminating which can be quite hard on a person when an endless hamster wheel of emotional churn provides no progress in healing or self understanding.
