Thought this person was commenting from the perspective of a service veteran, dealing with PTSD and associated after-effects.

Symptomatic of the physiological and psychological exposure to the trauma of wartime combat, perhaps IEDs and rocket propelled grenades, these being quite common for ground troops while on patrol in Iraq or Afghanistan.

That person described treatment for their conditions in a clinical environment, supported by a VA trauma specialist/therapist.

But as the conversation progressed, those symptoms were defined more clearly, by cause and outcome. And it becomes apparent that here in the supposedly "civilized" USA we are without a doubt a VIOLENT society.

Although (as commented above) some of us can't escape that truth, don't require any reminders from me.
