Portsmouth to pay $1 million to family of unarmed man killed by police officer, sources say [View all]

PORTSMOUTH , VA -- The city has reached an agreement in principle to pay $1 million to the family of an unarmed 18-year-old black man who was shot and killed last year by a police officer, according to sources familiar with the settlement.

Mayor Kenny Wright would only say he wanted the matter “resolved as quickly as possible.”
