5. I love alternative storylines generally... and I'm game for it, but I'm also not surprised..

There's an obsession with dystopian art and narratives , this will be in a similar vein. Anyone tackling the Civil War is probably imagining a world worse than it is now because the post civil war South was terrible for blacks, this show will only show a world even more terrible but who knows? The show might end up highlighting more moral failures on top of the moral failures in the historical record but I really wanna know why it didn't occur to them to imagine something that would have truly flipped History?

An alternative story line where newly freed slaves actually get their 40 acres and a mule? An alternative storyline where Confederates are tried for treason. An alternative storyline where the consequence of full demolition of the South meant we never saw Jim Crow or Segregation? Why not a show about those outcomes?

... but instead we might get more torture, but who knows, not a word has been written yet and I won't prejudge them.
