Can We Move On? [View all]

***** REMINDER: This is one black woman's opinion, written in a community of African-American DUers. While your mileage may vary, if you are not an African-American, please be respectful and secondary. You are not the focus here. *****

Maybe it's because threads in General Discussion on race keep sinking to the bottom, but I get the feeling that a lot of white people are ready for George Floyd and the protests to go away.

It's a gut feeling. I can't explain it. The only thing that it might be about is "it's an election year" and how there is so much "don't go to far, don't alienate the voters". There's always a reason to slow it down.

I guess, and this is the cynic in me, I am waiting for the next deaths, because there will be more, and I want to see if white people protest.

I am one of those people who does not see how changing symbols, removing symbols, changes how people feel. I want bold change. I want history books rewritten. I want entire police districts fired. I want Qualified Indemnity overturned so that police can be charged and sued. I want their lives ruined. And those lying, manipulative, racist white women - I want their lives ruined as well.

I don't know how to change an overt racist, but I want them back in the closet.
