Sober is Boring

When sober you get up in morning
Early, not like before,
You say a prayer to creator
When ready you head for the door;
Perched on your doorstep you wonder
Now what am I going to do?
You blew your job and money,
Go back inside and stew...
After an hour of stewing
You twiddled you thumbs 'til they're sore,
You pace, you look out the window,
Either you or the world are a bore;
May be you shoulda ate dinner,
Or should not have mixed whiskey and rum;
What ever twas, you never found it
A way to get drunk and have fun!
Now all of these years you were certain
You knew what the trouble must be. ..
Either the moon was full, or your parents cruel
That caused you to go on a spree!
So now you stand in the kitchen
Remembering something once heard
'dullness the garment of nightmare'
And boy you're sure a dull bird
The crushing burden of memory
sits on your shoulders this day,
And there's only one way to ease it
Tonight you'll go far away
