Problematic and speculative with fiction authors. We can see, for example, how the life of Thomas "Tennessee" Lanier Williams III is reflected in his works. Problems begin when they want to work backward from the works to the life. Eg to say that "Blanche Dubois" is a mix of Williams' older sister and his mother. If William said so fine but fiction is seldom that straightforward in its creation. That's kind of the point of writing fiction -- to convey emotional truths that are separated from real world truths and in doing so to convey something more universal to the human experience.
