WSU, OSU block Pac-12 revenue payments to departing conference schools [View all]
Washington State University and Oregon State have cut off conference revenue payments to departing Pac-12 schools in their ongoing fight to control what remains of the athletic conference.
This distribution of about 15% of a reported $61 million in midseason conference revenue to all schools is traditional, but not explicitly stated in the conference bylaws, according to The Athletic.
In a statement to the Portland Business Journal, both WSU and OSU defended their decision to block the payments by calling it a responsible step to protect the assets of the conference and plan for the future.
No member acting in the Pac-12s best interest would allow departing schools to drain the Conferences assets on their way out the door, while they refuse to pay their fair share of the liabilities, continued the schools in their joint statement.
