I'm going to start looking into it now and see what I can do. I'll begin by checking with Ford if the windshield is still available with the 'frits' (and thanks for the info on that so I know what to mention with the dealer). Then see what the insurance company will pay.
Whatever happens, thanks so much to everyone on this thread for your replies, every one was super helpful. I'll update the thread as I get more info.
