Wow, I really feel for you. The BMW key fob situation has been outrageous lately—it's hard to believe a major manufacturer can’t handle replacements in a reasonable timeframe. You're not alone; a lot of owners are stuck waiting indefinitely, and it's not like you can just hotwire a modern BMW.

Unfortunately, you're right—BMW is notoriously locked down when it comes to key fob replacements. Most local locksmiths, even experienced ones, simply can't access the proprietary systems needed to program their keys. I had a similar issue with a different European car and ended up waiting way longer than I should’ve.

While I'm based in Florida now, I did have a great experience recently with a st petersburg locksmith when dealing with a complicated smart key issue for my wife's car. They were super transparent about what they could and couldn’t do—and while BMW was off-limits, they were able to help with diagnostics and advice that the dealership never bothered to give.

Might be worth a shot if you’re traveling or know someone in the area. At the very least, they’ll confirm if there's any workaround left. Hoping BMW finally clears that backlog and gets you your key!
