He had enormous trouble landing the big players.
A lot of journeymen came and disappeared quickly.

His work building the farm team is just starting to show, but Luciano is still a big question mark, and that might have cast some doubt on Farhan and the scouting system. Just my opinion. Strong on pitching, but the park is pitcher-friendly. free agent pitchers like the park. Hitters are reluctant to come in free agency (Buster might change that) and need to be developed in the farm system. Only one seems headed for the majors.

Now that the Bay Area is a one-baseball-team town, did this factor in?

I am expecting visiting teams to complain loudly playing at a minor-league park in Sacramento, but MLB apparently approved the “temporary” move of the A’s.
