S.F. Giants youth movement extends to front office (along with some added controversy, of course) [View all]
The Giants have named former Phillies manager Gabe Kapler (44) as new manager and former Cubs exec Scott Harris (32) as GM.
Harris comes with high marks from the Cubs organization, where he served as assistant GM. He sounds like a great addition.
The controversy surrounds Kapler:
The Washington Post reported in February that Kapler did not alert police of an alleged sexual assault by one of his Dodgers players in 2015. The newspaper said Kapler received an email from a 17-year-old girl saying she had been sexually assaulted during a night of partying with two Los Angeles minor leaguers. Kapler tried to arrange a dinner with the girl and the two players, and engaged in discussions with the girl's grandmother, but he never alerted authorities. Kapler told the newspaper his actions were in line with club policy and advice offered by the Dodgers' lawyers and human resources personnel. He also said he was not aware of the sexual assault allegation.

Kapler has written hundred of blog posts, advocating (among other things) the suntanning of men's testicles and the use of coconut oil as a personal lubricant.
"If you want to be your strongest, get some sun on your boys. And by boys, I mean your testicles.
and
"Youre moisturized and smelling tropical, your teeth are white and your face looks like youve just visited a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon. The sun has set, and the moon is out. Perhaps you have a friend nearby, perhaps its just you by your lonesome
well, this is awkward. Ive promised you authenticity, honesty and openness. Take this how you wish and Ill spare you the step by step. Coconut oil is the worlds greatest lubricant. I cant help where your mind goes with this. Once the ball leaves the bat, I cant steer it."
