Bird recording device [View all]

My friend Rosemary and I are going to watch the solar eclipse from the ADKX Museum in Blue Mtn. Lake. I just saw this article where NASA wants viewers to record sounds such as insects and birds before, during, and after the eclipse. Their article mentioned an Audio Moth device. Then I found another device on Amazon to record birds. Have you ever done anything like this? Do you had advice for a device that's not too complicated to figure out? Thanks in advance!
