I was spending the weekend once at a preserve in series of seep lakes in Washington State’s Channeled Scablands with some friends doing a bit of birding and butterfly hunting. The RWBBs were described by a friend as sounding like “your angry Jewish aunt”.

Now, I don’t possess an “angry Jewish aunt”, but I assume that the obnoxious scolding they do must be akin to something from her memories of growing-up in New York. But they do make a lot of noise.

I like the parts where I’m outside with a camera and binocs going for long walks in interesting places hunting Checkerspots and Meadowhawks and get surprised by an Osprey or whitetail. The birds can talk all they want.
