I usually have midnight "conversations" between hooting Great Horned Owls in the neighborhood.
What's so cool is their silent movement is like they can almost teleport, And yet I KNOW for him to move from the tree across the street to behind the house he flew RIGHT OVER me...
Owls are such amazing birds, this one is a daytime owl - I don't know how many we have in the Sierras. I have heard daytime calls in the spring as well.
