▶️ Barred Owlet Climbing Tree [View all]

THE MORTON ARBORETUM
Barred Owl ( Strix varia ) chick climbing tree. I watched the owlet falling from the tree than it spent 2 hours until finally found a good tree to get to safety. It usually takes only couple minutes for the young owls to get in the trees. Most nests are in old trees with a rough bark so easy to climb. This owlet chose to climb on young tree and didn't have any success. Became tired but in the end succeeded. Please don't "save" fallen owlets - this is very normal part of their life . Video taken on 5-18-2021 at The Morton Arboretum, Illinois.
