We’ve had good luck with games that are fast to learn and don’t get too competitive.

Codenames works great with mixed ages and big groups. You can keep it light and still get laughs.
Wavelength is solid for conversation and doesn’t feel like a “game night” game.
Just One is easy, social, and works even with people who don’t usually play games.
Skull is simple, quick, and surprisingly tense without being heavy.
For cards, Love Letter and The Mind both work well with drinks and short attention spans.

All of these play well outdoors, don’t need a lot of table space, and won’t scare off people who just want to hang out.
