Given the unorthodox caliber and depending on what shape it's in, it's worth something if you ever choose to part with it. The .25-35 is an adequate round for anything up to deer-sized game (chicken thieves included); I'm guessing you're dealing with the barrel-mounted metal sights the gun came with, which will limit your accurate shooting to roughly 50 yards or thereabouts. Save the empty brass casings from your shooting sessions for use in future reloads. Enjoy.
