1. My first memories of a movable feast were in a 3rd class between somewere in Italy

in the 1960s. Probably my first longish trip as a young boy (14-15?) and not thinking to pack anything to eat.

The couple opposite me opened their hamper and started pulling out the breads, cheeses, meats, and beverages (don't remember what type.) They offered me some slices of the most delicious food I have had and opened my eyes to the kindness of strangers.
