Speaking of Road Trips... [View all]

My wife and I are now planning the itinerary for a road trip this spring. Two years ago we moved our oldest daughter from Philly to San Diego, via Savannah. We want to repeat the route in the coming Spring, only at a more leisurely pace.

Last time we did the trip at the end of April, and the weather was gorgeous (practically no humidity or rain, and temps in the 70's). Locals commented that the weather was unseasonably nice.

My question is this: Do any of you have experience with living in the South, or traveling through it and, if so, what do you see as the best time to do it?

My wife and I both have a great deal of leeway in choosing the timing; what, in your opinion, would be an optimal six-week period of time to do this.

I realize that weather conditions are beyond anyone's power to predict with 100% accuracy. I'm just asking for your best guess.
