There was a time when I wanted to be an Altar boy. The only window for joining was in the third grade. To pass the test, one had to learn a bunch of Latin phrases. I failed.
The very next year they dropped the Latin and went all English, but by then it was too late. I look back now and am eternally grateful that I missed the cut.
