those who thank God for sparing them give him/her the agency to decide what gets destroyed by a tornado. And then they don't blame God for those who are killed.
You are just applying the logic and facts to the inanity of thanking God for sparing them.
If God did spare them, isn't that the same as serial killer sparing someone?
