That's not too far from me. It reminds me of another altar of sorts that was left alone this spring...

Near Ft. McMurray, there was a roadside memorial that was spared by the fire...This woman had set up the memorial to her nephew who had died in a car accident on the highway...typical set up with a cross and she mentioned on national TV that she used to make sure there was pot at the memorial for her nephew's friends go to and smoke a joint with him from time to time. It was a place they all went to talk with him. When they evacuated, the fire was headed right for the community and that spot on the highway. While she was still far away from home, someone sent CBC news a picture of the memorial and all around it had burned...but the memorial itself was left untouched...let's see if I can find a link to that article...not sure if my American friends will be able to watch it (CBC is often blocked). Might need a proxy.
