Nope. Although I do appreciate that your are offering sincerely intended advice.

The last time my reading speed was timed it was about 800 wpm, vastly faster than people talk.

However, it's not as though I never listen to the spoken word. Most days I listen to Fresh Air with Terry Gross, and while I'm listening I do embroidery. And when I go on long driving trips, about half a dozen times a year, I check out recorded books from the library and happily listen to them. I have a friend who puts various podcasts on her ipod, and when we're just driving somewhere she'll play something. What's especially nice about those times is that we then discuss whatever we listened to.

Please, please, do not think I'm simply rejecting your suggestion completely out of hand. This is just one that I'm going to pass on.
