6. I think the memory of "war crimes" seems to be vanishing with new generations.

There's so much violence in our society revealed today for all to see it numbs the mind and spirit. I think the little kids learn to tune it out early. So what shocked an older generation with WWII and even to an extent the Vietnam atrocities pale in comparison when one is inundated with violence from birth.

I don't know how we deal with it, though. Our communications and entertainment media is expanding and certainly censorship isn't a solution. Maybe attitudes will change and people will have had enough with viewing unnecessary violence as entertainment and opt out of it. And, maybe enough disillusioned veterans returning from our failed overseas enterprises in those countries outside of our borders will begin to rise up and speak out about the atrocities they have witnessed.
