The OP contains the following text:
An interesting and disturbing thing about this week's reading is where it stands among comparators with the reading of ten years previous. Note that this reading is 26.25 ppm higher than it was in week 31 of 2014, implying that the rate of accumulation is 2.62 ppm year. Of all such ten year comparators among the 2532 readings, this is the second highest ever recorded. The highest, 27.65 ppm occurred earlier this year, in the week beginning February 4, 2024, week 5, which also gave the highest single year comparator, that with week 5 of 2023, where it was 5.75 ppm higher.
The bolded "second" is incorrect. For the week beginning August 4, 2024, week 31, the increase over the same week, week 31 of 2014, is the
tenth highest ever recorded, not the second. The error occurred because of the failure to update the cut and paste text from an earlier post a little over a week ago.
This does not affect the conclusion of the post that 2024 is an unprecedented disaster in the rate of accumulation of the dangerous fossil fuel waste carbon dioxide and that the problem is accelerating rapidly
To elaborate: Of the 50 highest accumulations in 10 year week to week comparisons, all except two have taken place since 2020; the two exceptions occurred in 2019. Of this top 50, nineteen have taken place in 2024.
