The only way that PIs can do research with the drastically cut funding they are given is to utilize underpaid Post docs. Most of them come here from other countries. We literally do not have the pipeline of American citizen scientists to do that Post doc work. The original poster is correct. This is the final nail in the coffin of American biomedical research
