she saw that supporting it publicly was toxic. Her resistance to change had nothing to do with embarrassing President Obama but with the fact that she had participated in negotiating it and had called it the gold standard.

I still do not trust HRC. I credit the progressive movement with forcing her to change her positions and that is the point in being active politically. Politicians rarely change because they want to. They need to either be forced to or be given the right political environment to support changing their once previous bad positions.
