(2,800 posts)Their disruptive behavior causes the teacher or principal to make new rules and punishments that hurt the learning environment for the disrupters themselves and all the other students in the class.
Those who feel strongly about their principles should use their energy in community and political action in order to bring about real improvements rather than evoke backlash that profits no one and in the end casts a shadow on their cause.
I'm sure that all true progressives are embarrassed and chagrined by what they perceive as childish and pointless attempts to get "bad attention."
Obama was right: "Don't boo. Vote." Jump in the arena and work hard to make sure your cause is effectively promoted.
Protesting is often appropriate and necessary. But effective protesting is done with non-violence, decorum, and foresight as to what is best for expanding the movement. Effective protesting requires lots of training in order to avoid counterproductive behavior.
I would hate to see morons disrupting, along with Hillary's speech, the entire progressive movement.
