Your entire OP is whiny, truth be told. The survival of the party and, indeed as you say, those most impacted by this will be predicated upon peoples ability to learn and adapt. Walking around in a dream state, up to and including thinking the party is not in deeply dire straits will do nothing but guarantee the continued domination of the right wing.
If you are cool with that, then keep dreaming. Otherwise it is time to learn, adapt, and reform the party into both a coherent political force.
