In reply to the discussion: Sanders: Election not a victory for Trump, loss for the Democratic Party [View all]SaschaHM
(2,897 posts)It's statements like this that encapsulates why as a Dem, I can't get behind Sanders. Does he mean Planned Parenthood because that was part of "the establishment" according to him in the primaries? Does he mean President Obama and our congressional leaders like James Clyburn, who have fought hard for legislation to better the lives of others? I expect this type of broad generalization and dismissal of democratic policies from the Republican party, but as someone who has worked closely with the "political establishment" in his long career, he should know the nuances of an argument. The notion that for 8 years, Barack Obama hasn't fought for varying forms of economic and environmental justice is straight up bullshit. Is it Bernie's specific proposals? No and therefore, it's dismissed as rubbish.
