In reply to the discussion: Sanders: Election not a victory for Trump, loss for the Democratic Party [View all]ismnotwasm
(42,560 posts)15. He left out "oligarchs"
And then there's this little gem:
The event, held in Dominican Universitys Angelico Hall in conjunction with Corte Maderas Book Passage, was designed to promote Sanders new book, Our Revolution: A Future to Believe In. Sanders barely mentioned the book, however. As he did during his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sanders concentrated instead on the issue that has energized him throughout his political career: economic inequality. He said he doesnt believe that all of the people who voted for Trump are racists or sexists or homophobes.
I dont believe that at all, Sanders said. I think a lot of people ended up holding their noses and voting for Trump because they are in pain.

Oh but these people who are in "pain" tossed historically oppressed POC, Women's reproductive rights and LGBT's right under the fucking bus? Because they're in pain? Not buying what you're selling Bernie.
Now some of these threads in DU make more sense to me though--I was all like, "where the fuck did THAT come from"? --why it came from the man himself, Bernie Sanders
Some of us are already tracking increasing incidences of bigotry directly related to this election.

You know Dean and Leahy are Democrats, right? It is Bernie's choice not to be a Democrat.

If you're going to make allegations like that, you're going to have to address three things.

Carping about economic inequality from a private college in San Rafael is rich isn't it?

If he didn't speak about income inequality when he speaks at private colleges, you'd criticize him

Yeah, if he fights against the Democratic Party for 4 more years, we could get Trump again in 2020!
