He'd be ridiculed as a damn Yankee trying too hard to fit in down South. Take it from a native New Yorker who lived 19 years in the South--17 of those years in Texas--and moved back up North in 1999.

He will stick out like a sore thumb in the South, believe me. I wasn't accepted by the locals and didn't even try to fit in when I lived in Texas.
