We aren't just a banana republic waiting to happen...we are a whole continent, and that's a lot of space, and with a proud history of many such people as Smedley Butler. We aren't the incestuous, disease-ridden, languishing kind of nation that falls easily to pot, not everywhere, and not for lack of Corporations trying to corrupt the masses, either.

For example: the cable industry is in a swivet. They fully expected the new generation to buy a mortgage and $100+ worth of cable every month. See how well that's turning out?

The entire economy is going through de-comsumerization--kicking and screaming. It's a tossup how it will evolve. I'm betting on People over Corporations, because the corporations are too stupid to live.
