29 years ago, Philadelphia bombed MOVE [View all]

In 1985 there was a Black Liberation Group in Philadelphia, called MOVE, which embraced anarcho-primitivism principles.

May 13, 1985, the Philadelphia police force, with the agreement of its African-American mayor, dropped an incendiary bomb that wiped out 61 houses and burned to death 11 members of MOVE, including 5 children, and injured dozens.

Their crime?

Keeping compost.
Having loud meetings in their back yard.
wanting to return to a natural life.
