(55,404 posts)While it's hard to conceive of someone being a Democrat who is so hostile to women and people of color, the fact is the issue goes far beyond political affiliation. Whether or not one engages in that kind of behavior, eggs it on, remains silent, or condemns it is less about political ideology than basic humanity. It is the latter that some are clearly lacking.
Yesterday I saw several of them accusing Boston Bean of stoking a "gender war" for posting a poll. That is what they decided was objectionable, not threats of rape and death. Even when I pointed out the stark disparity in outrage at her poll in comparison to the silence about the threats against Sea, one member refused to say those violent threats were worse than posting a poll he didn't like. When someone is at the point where he thinks a feminist post he doesn't like can even compare to threats of rape and death, they are beyond reach. "Teachable moments," as Skinner refers to them, are worthless in such cases. It is truly frightening to know people like that exist on the planet, let alone in this online community.
