2. I had no idea of this aspect of Fairfield's history and I live in CT!

It is fascinating. Fairfield is a very quiet, prosperous (tho not at the level of Greenwich and New Canaan) town. It is also very nice with a pretty Green, like a lot of CT towns. I always thought of Fairfield as being rather bland but this history lesson has been a revelation for me! Thanks for posting this!
